Summary

A US fintech company sells financial planning and analysis (FP&A) software to startups and small and mid-sized businesses. Its buyers research financial planning and automation tools and request demos. The client wanted its platform to show up in AI search answers.
WiserBrand ran a three-month GEO (generative engine optimization) program, from a measured baseline to new pages and external mentions.

Business Challenge

Before the project, the client’s position in AI answers looked like this:

  • Rarely named. On prompts such as “best FP&A software for startups and SMBs”, AI tools mostly named competitors.
  • Seldom cited. AI tools rarely used the client’s site as a source.
  • Little demand. AI referral traffic was small and produced few demo requests.

The client needed to show up in AI answers where FP&A tools are compared, and that visibility had to turn into demo requests.

What We Did

  • 1

Measure the starting point (Month 1)

    • Built 120 buyer prompts, from platform choice to financial modeling for startups, and ran them in four AI engines to record mentions of the client and of eight competitors, plus the sources AI tools cited
    • Checked the site technically and delivered a competitor matrix and a prioritized roadmap
  • 2

    Build new pages (Months 2–3)

    • Published and verified 5 landing pages, each written for a client segment or a specific financial task
    • Published 6 comparison and alternatives pages aimed at “[competitor] alternatives” and side-by-side searches in Google and ChatGPT
  • 3

Update existing pages and fix indexing (Months 2–3)

    • Optimized 18 existing product pages, guides and articles for AI search
    • Added internal links, applied technical fixes and checked that Google had indexed the new pages: all were indexed within 14 days
  • 4

    Build external authority (Month 3)

    • Added 12 new external mentions in tool reviews, B2B directories and niche media
    • Updated the client’s profiles on G2, Capterra and similar platforms
  • 5

Re-measure and plan the next stage (Month 3)

    • Re-ran the same 120 prompts, compared them with the month 1 baseline and delivered a comparison report and a scaling plan

Project Results

The gains show up in AI answers, in Google and in the demo pipeline.
AI visibility
The client now appears in Google AI Overviews for its target queries, and AI tools cite its domain as a source more often.
Google rankings
Several comparison pages reached Google’s top 10 for “[competitor] alternatives” queries.
Traffic growth
AI referral traffic grew severalfold, and organic clicks to commercial pages rose as well.
